What You Can Connect via Bluetooth

The Freestyle supports a range of Bluetooth accessories to make your setup more comfortable and flexible, including:

Audio devices: Bluetooth speakers, headphones, and some soundbars
Input devices: Bluetooth gamepads/controllers, keyboards, and mice
Convenience tip: Audio and input devices are paired in different menus, so use the section that matches what you’re connecting.

Before You Start (Quick Checklist)

1) Put the accessory into pairing mode

Most Bluetooth devices won’t show up until pairing mode is active.

Headphones / speakers: Usually hold the Power/Bluetooth button until the LED flashes.
Controllers: Use the controller’s Bluetooth pairing shortcut (often a dedicated Pair/Sync button).

2) Keep the device close

For first-time pairing, keep the accessory within 1 meter (3 feet) of the projector and avoid walls/metal objects between them.

3) If the device was paired elsewhere, disconnect it there first

Many headphones and speakers auto-reconnect to the last device (phone, laptop, etc.).
If your device won’t appear on The Freestyle, temporarily disable Bluetooth on the other device or select Disconnect from that device.

A) Connect Bluetooth Headphones or a Bluetooth Speaker (Audio Output)

Use this when you want the projector’s sound to play through headphones, a portable speaker, or a Bluetooth soundbar.

Step-by-step pairing

On The Freestyle remote, open Settings.
Go to Sound.
Select Sound Output.
Choose Bluetooth Speaker List (this may also show headphones).
Select your device from the list and follow any on-screen prompts.

After pairing: confirm the sound is routed correctly

Play a video and raise the volume.
If sound still comes from the projector’s speaker, return to Sound Output and re-select your Bluetooth device.

Switching back to the built-in speaker

Settings → Sound → Sound Output
Choose Projector Speaker (or similar wording, depending on region)

B) Connect a Bluetooth Game Controller (Gaming Hub / Apps)

Use this when you want to control games (cloud gaming, game apps) using a Bluetooth controller.

Step-by-step pairing (controller/gamepad)

Open Settings.
Go to All Settings → Connection.
Select External Device Manager.
Choose Input Device Manager.
Open Bluetooth Device List.
Select your controller. If it doesn’t appear, choose Refresh and try again.

Notes that matter for controllers

Compatibility can vary by controller model and region.
If inputs feel delayed, reduce wireless interference and keep the controller closer (details in the troubleshooting section below).

C) Connect a Bluetooth Keyboard or Mouse (Navigation & Typing)

A keyboard is great for faster searching and typing in apps. A mouse can be helpful for web browsing.

Step-by-step pairing (keyboard/mouse)

Settings → All Settings → Connection
External Device Manager → Input Device Manager
Bluetooth Device List → select your device
If it isn’t detected, move it closer and select Refresh.

Important limitation to know

If you connect a mouse, it may be usable only in certain apps (commonly the Internet/browser app). Don’t be surprised if it doesn’t work everywhere.

Managing Bluetooth Devices (Reconnect, Disconnect, Unpair)

Reconnect a previously paired device

Turn the device on near the projector.
Go back to the same Bluetooth list you used originally:
- Audio: Sound Output → Bluetooth Speaker List
- Input: Input Device Manager → Bluetooth Device List

Disconnect (temporary)

Use disconnect when you plan to reconnect later without pairing again.

Go to the device list menu (audio or input)
Select the device
Choose Disconnect

Unpair / Remove (clean reset)

Unpair when the device connects unreliably, shows as “paired” but won’t connect, or you’re handing it to another user.

Open the relevant Bluetooth list
Select the device
Choose Remove / Forget / Unpair (wording varies)
Then pair again from scratch

Audio Quality Tips (Especially for Movies)

Reduce audio delay (lip-sync)

Bluetooth audio can introduce slight delay depending on the speaker/headphones.

Try these fixes:

Use wired audio (HDMI eARC to a soundbar) when you want the tightest lip-sync.
If your sound settings include Audio Delay or Lip Sync, adjust it in small steps.
Keep the Bluetooth device closer and reduce interference (see below).

Best practice for outdoor setups

Place the Bluetooth speaker in front of you, not behind the projector—this helps perceived sync and clarity.
Set speaker volume high enough, then adjust final level using the projector volume (or vice versa) to avoid distortion.

Troubleshooting: When Pairing Fails or Audio Drops

Device not showing up in the list

Confirm pairing mode is active (flashing LED).
Move the device close and select Refresh.
Power-cycle both devices:
- Turn off the accessory, turn it back on, re-enter pairing mode.
- Restart the projector.

“Connected” but no sound

Re-check Sound Output is set to the Bluetooth device (not Projector Speaker).
Raise volume on both the projector and the speaker/headphones.
Disconnect and reconnect from the Bluetooth list.

Frequent disconnections or stutter

Common causes are range and wireless interference.

Fixes:

Keep distance short and line-of-sight when possible.
Avoid placing the projector right next to a Wi-Fi router or other strong wireless device.
If you’re also using Wi-Fi streaming, try switching your router to a less congested channel or move the router farther away.

Controller lag or missed inputs

Replace/recharge controller batteries.
Reduce distance and remove obstructions.
Avoid pairing too many Bluetooth accessories at once—keep it simple during gaming sessions.

Best Use Scenarios (Quick Recommendations)

Movies at home: Bluetooth speaker/headphones are fine; wired eARC is best for zero-lag audio.
Outdoor movie night: Bluetooth speaker + close placement + stable power source.
Gaming: Bluetooth controller is convenient; consider wired audio for faster response and better sync.
